I just called the El Cortez to reserve a room later this year at the
Ogden House & was told it is closed for the next 6 months. I looks like
the remodeling there is underway. From what I've heard, they're going
to redo the exterior & turn some of the rooms into suites. If it goes
as well as the El Cortez renovations, this bodes very well for downtown.

For details, here's a link:

While I am glad they are doing this, I think calling a 5 story building a
"tower" is a bit of wishful thinking.

Hey Cam... what is the deal with Lady Luck these days. You seldom hear
anything about that property.

Yeah, a 5 story "tower" is a bit of a stretch.

As for the Lady Luck, I just read a story today that the company that
owns it will do a much smaller version of Echelon Place, i.e. fancy
hotel with upscale hoity-toity retail, but keeping the buildings.
It's just going to be a major overhaul. I can't remember where I read
it; I just saw it earlier today.

I liked Ogden House better when it was unrenovated and rooms were $18
a night-circa 2000.
