Hey guys,

I'll be flying in on Sunday morning around 10:30am, on my way to the
nascar race which will kick off my weeks vacation there. Any advice on
how to get to the racetrack? I'm renting a car but I'm assuming I'll
be driving into the teeth of the traffic by 11am. Is there any public
trans or private buses going there? I'm staying at the Orleans but
they dont have rides except for the people who threw a couple of grand
for one of their packages.

If I drive in, it's Rt 15 all the way, right? No way I should take
604, right? Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

I drove out there for Air Show parking last November. That went pretty
well, but I doubt you'll be as fortunate for the NASCAR race. They do
say there will be 3 lanes open to get on/off I-15 at the Speedway exit.

Some helpful links on this page, particularly "Inbound/Outbound Traffic
Procedure"...

Or take the helicopter shuttle to avoid the traffic altogether. Only
$399/round trip!

Also check out this link for public transit from various Strip and
Downtown locations to the racetrack. It's kind of pricey, though, at
$30 for an all-day pass.

Better allow plenty of time to get to the race. Last year, people allowed 90
minutes to go to the race from their strip hotels and got to their seats 30
minutes AFTER the race began. (source: Review Journal).
Traffic will be very, very heavy.

I-15 to Speedway exit is pretty much your only route. We are checking out
transportation from the downtown center using the busses. I believe they
will have a special lane and may be worth it rather than fighting all the
traffic.

See you at the race.

$20 on Saturday from DTC.

Forget it. We will take the car. Can't be that bad on Saturday.
