There is a building on the SW corner of Maryland Parkway @ Fremont
Street. Please help settle a dispute. It appears that it was a small
department store at some time in the past. I say it was a Sears,
Roebuck & Co. store. An acquaintance disputes that.
Now part of it is empty, and the rest is subdivided into smaller
shops. Any comments?

It wasn't a Sears. Sears was located at 6th and Fremont on the SW
side of the street. When the Boulevard mall opened, Sears had a
location there and ultimately closed their Fremont Store locale in
favor of the one at the Mall.

JC Penney's was located near 6th and Fremont (where the Fremont
Medical Building is today) and like Sears, when their Boulevard Mall
locale became more popular, closed their Fremont Street location as
well.

The building you are referring to is was Garret's Furniture.

Lynn in Sherman Oaks

I believe it was a furniture store but I don't think it was ever a Sears.

We all miss the old Huntridge on Charleston and Maryland Parkway.
