LVA reports a new off-menu special at Mr. Lucky's, the coffee shop at
the Hard Rock. It's all-you-can-eat prime rib for $9.99, and includes
soup or salad, baked potato (no tomatoes!) and veggie. It's available
4pm to 4am. Hopefully the prime rib is better than the $7.77 Steak &
Shrimp special which has gone downhill in recent years.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to give the steak & shrimp a
pass on my next trip but I might give this prime rib a shot.

If you get there first, let us know how it is. The story says they
start you with a 13-ounce cut of prime rib, then you can keep going
back til you've had enough. The side dishes you only get once.

HRH used to be my traditional stop before the airport when leaving
town. I used to love the steak and shrimp special, accompanied by a
coffee milkshake (complete with chocolate-covered coffee beans mixed
throughout.)

You are correct, however, that the quality of this special has been
inconsistent at best recently.

I am happy to hear that HRH is getting a little more aggressive in
marketing towards mid- and low-rollers, but all you can eat prime rib
isn't going to get me there, since (1) the prime rib at Roberta's is
going to be hard to top; and (2) gorging on prime rib doesn't sound
like the ideal pre-flight activity.

I'd argue that gorging on prime rib doesn't sound like an ideal
activity regardless of the situation. It just seems like one of those
foods that doesn't lend itself very well to the all you can eat
format. How often do you finish a king or queen cut of prime rib and
say "Man that was great but I'd really like more!"

Your right about that!

At Careful Kittys, I always order the end cut,
many times its a lot larger. After the salad,
bake potato with sour cream & butter, it
takes one or two bites of prime rib to fill me up.

That's the nice thing about being local, it sure makes
for a nice sub the next day.

If Ellis Island offered all the ribs you could eat, I would stop
eating there because my doggie bag would go away.

Sounds like a place Elmer would like. Shoe leather sold cheap and called
Prime Rib.

Mr. Lucky's has great food, but I am very cautious about this one.

Only problem is often it is really hard to get that end cut-especially at
Ellis.

You must like Prime Rib well done as usually when cooked the ends are well
cooked and towards the middle it gets more rare.

Arizona Charlies (Decatur) has a Steak and potato bar on Monday for about
$12. I tried it and it was ok--not great but for $12 I gave it a B+

Honestly, the Prime Rib at Jerrys Nugget in NLV or the Rainbow Room at the
Peppermill in Henderson are so far superior and at pretty good prices and
the $6.95 Prime Rib dinner at the CAL downtown is good enough for me.
