|
|
Hi everyone.
I will be escorting a tour group of between 15 and 20 people
to Las Vegas just after the first of the year (no, not Super
Bowl week).
Since many of the folks will be first-time visitors, I would
like to have some sort of reception for the group when we
arrive.
My question for you all is this. Since I am bringing in a
group of this size, all of which will do some sort of
gambling, do you think the hotel/casino we are staying at
might extend us some form of courtesy, possibly throwing a
reception, or at least a small room and some drinks? We are
staying at a mid-strip casino.
If I were to approach the hotel/casino, which office would I
contact? The concierge? Sales and Marketing? The Front
Desk? Someone else?
I will appreciate any serious responses.

Mr. Wow,
Two thoughts. 1) For a group as small as yours don't expect the hotel to do
anything *too* special for you and 2) Did you book your rooms through the
group sales department? If so, that would certainly be the department with
which to arrange any "special" services.
That said, I'm guessing the hotel would love to "cater" your reception --
provided you bought all your supplies through them (think WAY overpriced
liquor, water, soda, etc.).
For a group as small as yours I'd suggest this alternative: go to a local
grocery store and purchase the supplies you need. Then host your reception
in your hotel room. Perhaps an arrangement with the hotel could get you
into a larger-than-standard room (i.e. mini-suite) where 15 - 20 people
could visit relatively comfortably.
As a taxi driver I have shuttled numerous folks around to pick up things
ranging from plants and flowers to chips and dip to cups, plates, ice and
beverages.
This suggestion is often done in Vegas. Enjoy your stay.

Not exactly a convention. But worth a try.
That other guy gave good advice, imo.

The hotel, Imperial Palace, has ignored repeated attempts to book
a conference room and cater it. We even had a LV local visit the
hotel and try. They are apparently in such management disarray
that they are barely functioning. We are on the verge of
canceling the meeting. The trip leaves Jan 15th.
