Nice pics, Lynn. That Woolworth's on the corner of Fremont & LV Blvd.
back then would be a vast improvement over the present Neonopolis.
Talk about taking a step backwards.

Cameron,

Thanks!

When I was a kid that Woolworth's had a terrazzo tile entry way and
the signage was the classic red and gold Woolworth lettering. The
Woolworth's on Fremont Street lasted until the 1970s before it too
gave up the ghost.

Hope you enjoyed reading about the Riv and the Royal Nevada!

Lynn:

YUP! I remember! Thanks for the memories.

Do you know Sherman Oaks as well as you know Las Vegas?

Heck, we still mourn the day Otto's Pink Pig and Travalines closed.

At least we saved Barones...

Is it true Weiner Factory closed???

"By 1963, Ben Goffstein... had his eye on piece of property on Fremont
Street, away from the nightlife of the Strip. He dreamed of a
hotel/casino named after the most important women in his life, his wife
and daughters, whom he called his 4 Queens."

Another fascinating Vegas fact. Thanks, Lynn.
