I am returning for my annual visit to Mecca (Sin City) in January this time
taking the family. I have booked a suite at the Sahara and was wondering if
anyone has stayed in the rooms.

I've stayed at the Sahara several times in the regular rooms. I've seen
the suite that some friends had, but didn't actually stay there. It was
WAAAaaayyyy up in the Alexandria Tower at the very end of the hallway.
As you entered there was a large living room area with a kitchen area
off to the side. Huge, the living room itself was twice the size of our
regular room. Had a balcony that opened up and you could actually walk
out on and you had a very good view of the Stratosphere and the
mountains in the distance. There was a bedroom off to the right.
I don't remember what the bathroom looked like.

Hope this helps. Smile

Didn't you hear, retro is in. LOLL. I don't mind the old look as long as
it's clean. The rooms seem large.

Yes, but isn't that part of Sahara's "thing" (other than, of course,
the fact that they offer $1 blackjack, etc.)? We've stayed there a
couple of times and liked it. It's no luxury hotel but you get what
you pay for and it's clean and decent. And we kind of liked that old
school vibe (albeit on the cheap). Not too many places in Vegas
anymore where you can get it.

Hi,

I know nothing about their rooms.

They do put on nice shows. I've seen Jeff Dunham and the
Rat Pack. Last time I was there the SEAT WHORES tell you where to
sit. You can get a table or a movie theater style seat in the back.
You bribe, are extorted -excuse me tip the WHORE or you're in the
worst seat in the class of ticket you bought. Again thats as of my
last visit. If they've gone assigned seating then -its about time.

Food at the Sahara: Took the show ticket discount buffet
offer 'dinner and a show'. Twice. Will never again consume anything
ever again at the Sahara, even water. My wife and I got so sick we
almost called for a doctor. On the potty for over two hours. Imagine
a tabasco sauce enema.

As long as the price is right and the room is clean and comfy,
who cares? Rooms are the last way you should spend your money in
Vegas...short of going to a a cockroach-ridden slum hotel.

It's 786 sq feet. Has a wet bar and bar, which is kind of nice.

I think I'd go with Rio's suites, though. Standard suite is 600 sq feet.
They have two other styles, starting at 1100 sq feet, with wet bars, one
style with jacuzzi and 1200 sq feet. One with 1600 sq feet. These have 1
1/2 baths... nice touch.

Check them out.
