This week, I'm going to talk about celebrities who have fallen from
grace — those the general public once upheld as phenomenal and now
consider foolish - and how they can possibly get in our good graces
again.

Before I do that, I first wanted to send a shout out to the fantastic
ladies of the Caseville Library Club. I went to a meeting of theirs this
week as an invited guest speaker, and it was a joy to talk to them. They
were a wonderful audience - they didn't fall asleep! Ha ha. They also
whipped up a very tasty lunch that featured sandwiches with the most
colorful bread I've ever seen.

Thanks, ladies, for a great time. This is the group that puts on the
very popular Holly Berry Fair each year, and they donate thousands of
dollars to local charities and organizations. They certainly do a lot
for their community, and they're looking for new members to carry on
this important tradition. Keep up the great work, ladies.

Ok, on to the celebs. The first one is a female singer who years ago
could do no wrong. She raised a few eyebrows from time to time, but she
certainly had the Midas touch. Now, she's got a bald head and quite a
tarnished name — Britney Spears. With her stop/start stays in rehab, her
wild nights on the town and her inability to wear underwear, and her
questionable mothering skills, she's certainly become a laughing stock.
For one thing, we didn't cheer on Brit and unimpressive hubby Kevin
Federline. Things were looking up when she divorced Kevin, but then
things went way downhill from there. Going out on the town with Paris
Hilton was one of the worst moves she could make. Britney really needs
good PR. What she needs to do is get some superstars who are in the
public's good graces to support her and get her back on track. One of
these people is her former flame, Justin Timberlake, who is the current
king of pop. He could help her with a new album, and if she gets the
help of some hot producers, such as Timbaland and Pharrell, and creates
an upbeat danceable disc that we're accustomed to from her, she could
have a chance. Focus on your music again, girl, and stay out of the
bars! Dress like a respectable lady. Show us you're a good mother - we
know it's in you. An appearance on Oprah couldn't hurt, either. Don't
repeat that god-awful appearance on Dateline with Matt Lauer where you
showed way too much cleavage and chomped on gum like someone half your
age. If we get to sing along with you rather than laugh at you, we'll
forgive you.

Look at Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. They came out of the
laughing stock phase with killer albums that made us realize once again,
"Oh yeah, they are talented singers.” Christina getting married — to an
uncelebrity no less — truly helped her and got us thinking she's
respectable, not trampy.

As for Tom Cruise, quit jumping on couches and quit being so critical of
everything. Shut up and act. Make some more blockbusters. We know you've
got talent. A few more photos of you with your new daughter Suri
wouldn't hurt. it's fine that you're a Scientologist. Just Don't shove
our noses in it.

Mel Gibson — he's more of a challenge. Making blockbusters might not be
enough. Doing a lot of charitable things might help, but don't do it
just for the PR. Make us believe you're being sincere about it. it's
tricky, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Mel. And dude, stay away
from the bottle!

One person that's fallen so far from grace that he may not ever see the
light of day again is the former King of Pop Michael Jackson. While he
wasn't ever proved as guilty for the horrible things he's been accused
of, but he's as guilty as O.J. in the court of public opinion. All of
his weird surgeries - and his mask - are just too much for us. He also
hasn't proved to us that he's a fit father. I remember a day when he
could do no wrong. I keep his "Thriller" album around to remind me of
the good ol' days when he was fab. Now he's just a freak, and he's so
far gone from his throne, an album probably wouldn't be enough. Perhaps
he should just forget about being popular again in the U.S. and focus on
another country where he's not considered guilty.

Just highlighting the important paragraph for ammj's slow readers:
